Is RS really worth it?

I'm in the process of selling or fixing (shep t-case with lsd) and keeping my 03 evo 8.
It has sunroof, and that was a must have item when I looked for an evo, but I only opened it once and closed it back because I get blinded lol. (I lost all my hats)
The only thing that I really like about it are oem hid headlights (option wise)

Now I will probably sell it, pay few things off and save up some money to buy my next evo. I'm not sure if evo rs really worth searching for and they sell for more then regular evo now.

What my goals and use for the car:
Want cams, full bolt-on's, e85, evo9 turbo or similar.
Suspension mods
Possibly rpf1 or other light wheel.
Car will be for weekend cruising.
Some auto-x, drag and track. (hope to do this as often as possible)

Also what year rs is better? I need to research acd because I'm not sure if I'd benefit from it.

I also want to add (incase someone has one they would sell this spring/summer) that my budget will mostlikely be around 16k (prefer under 100k miles and clean title a must)

IMO if your gonna make a full on drag/race car then yes it'll help you out in the long run door power window motors and what not less crap to deal with an rs, I'f i were you just get a good deal on a GSR and be happy

I don't want a drag car, I want mostly Track/auto-x.
Really don't know if it will be a toy only car (have rsti for that), so needs to stay street friendly.
Manual windows don't really bother me that much. If it gets too hot, I'll use AC.

I drove a miata and a few Hondas last year with no AC or power options, so I'm used to that.

Wondering what other benefits/draw backs are.

if you're tracking, I'd say the bigger thing to think about is whether or not you're okay with not having ABS.

I got an RS with 75,500 miles for 13k with all the mods on my sig plus suspension parts not listed and its amazing, i dont care for power windows, power locks, abs etc. The cars drives and handles great no problems whatsoever. Are the Evo's RS much more expensive than GSR's ?

^ great price. I'd buy one like that if I could find it.

Would abs be beneficial for road corse? I plan to atleast auto-x my next evo.

The 05-06 RS models are better due to the ACD T-Case which takes more abuse then a 03-04 since the ACD Diff adsorbs majority of the Shock on launches and all its not bulletproof but allot better. The fact you want a Track/Auto-X car the RS is a good choice with the fact of no ac,radio and no power windows and harnesses.

I think that settles it: Get the GSR. Also, you will appreciate ABS.

In any track car the driver should be the ABS. How many race cars have ABS? Granted in a car without braided brake lines and a harder pedal it will probably be harder to feel, but still abs come on.......

Sure, but that's terrible advice for the OP. Ditching ABS is fine for an experienced racer, but SlavaGC8 said the car was for weekend cruising with some auto-x and track. I think he will appreciate the ABS for those few times he needs it, and it will help him learn the limits of the braking system while still having a good safety net.

Car before that had crank windows and car before that too.

My rsti has brembos and no power windows....upgrading to manual (car is 2700lbs) it did get scary a few times with no abs when stoping after going 120mph + it only has 225 re070 tires though.

Didn't know that acd was better. Thought it was bad because it's extra weight and could cost $$ when breaks.
