Bone Stock 2003 Evo 8

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I have a bone stock 2003 Evo 8 completely taken car of and I had the chance to buy a Tomei Arms M7960 Turbocharger kit for fairly cheap brand new never installed still in factory box. I was thinking of installing the turbocharger with a Walboro pump stainless steel TBE and a tune for the stock injectors. I don't have enough patience to save up money for the cams and injectors, I was thinking I would break in the turbo for the time I save the money for the cams and injectors. Has anyone just run any upgraded turbocharger on stock cams for a while or should I be patience and still keep it in the box till i get the cams and injectors.

theres no reason NOT to run an aftermarket turbo with stock cams. a good portion of the community are on stock cams with upgraded turbo. just get a tune.

Don't know if you need to break in a turbo but you can just mount it up right away while you save up for other things like a IX bypass valve and cams. You should also get a tune right away. Only reason why ppl wait to do mods is because they rather get it all tuned at once and it saves money in the long run than install a part, tune, install another part, another tune, etc.

If you're strapped for cash and/or just don't have time to run and get a tune multiple times, I'd say wait. Otherwise, bolt it right up and enjoy.

Why do u think u have to have cams? Injectors are gonna be more important thats gonna be ur limiting factor with any turbo bigger than stock, don't know jack about that turbo, but once u start getting around 360-370+hp on pump gas ur stock injectors will be pretty well maxxed even with a walbro. Injectors, fuel pump, and tune should come before cams. Although im sure u could bolt the turbo on with a pump and get significant gains, just might run out of fuel at some point.

+1...there are a lot of guys running stock cams. Most importantly are the injectors. You can get a good set brand new for under $300. Your stock injectors will more than likely max out during your tune and who would want that? My recommendation for injectors on a budget are PTE
