there both good cars but you will be driving it so what makes you happy and go for it

 

Ya both are great cars, m3 will be more expensive in the long run for repairs and maintenance

 

My lady has an e46 and I have a IX MR. Both are great cars just maintaince on the e46 is a little more pricey. As for the Evo not bad. DD with the BMW and DD with the Evo (430hp). BMW of course it's more comfortable. It's up to you. Both handle good unless your going to do some crazy circuit racing every other day.
