Possible to buy an evo for 10-11k?
Didn't you guys know? Everyone buys near-perfect used Evos regardless of price. Hell, a local guy bought a 60K stock, one owner IX (for a hell of a lot more than $10K) and this is what he posted on the local forum yesterday:
A $10K Evo?
Sounds good, will probably be awhile, I would like to get some coilovers soon, but it seems my planning so far is clutch, put the TBE on and tune, then fix a lot of cosmetic issues, front bumper needs to be taken care of, it would appear that it was resprayed over without having the previous layer sanded down at all so it just keeps peeling/flaking worse over time, rear bumper is the same but I'll probably end up getting a JDM rear, carbon fiber lip and then I'll probably get back into the suspension/performance parts.
Here's one for pretty close; you can probably get the price down. I don't think it has recaro seats. If you pick up something like this make sure you check seals, plugs, for boost leaks, diffs for gear oil, and all that good stuff

You can score high millage (100k+) EVOs for around 10k. Prob need some TLC to get it sorted but that's the fun part...10k EVO that's mint isn't happening
Hell my car might be worth 8k on a good day but I wouldn't sell it for 3X that

One of my Evos I purchased for $9k. Under 100k miles, clean title, pretty much stock and overall in great condition. It needed a piece of the suspension fixed (took me 2 minutes after I figured out what it was), and one other part fixed that cost me $100. Other than that the body is in really good condition for the mileage and so is the interior. I don't know what the tune is like, so I'm going to get that checked out before I beat on it at all.
This was of course the deal of the year for me. I wasn't even looking for a car and stumbled across it and bought it the next day after finding it.

I bought mine for 11k last year with 98000 miles, only had to put some exhaust on it, and inter cooler pipes. Car has done nothing but last for me. Guy before me had 176+ passes on it(didn't know til after i bought it) He put it back to stock(had bbk, and a 6262) swapped set ups a few times.
Only major thing i have had to do was valve stem seals. But being a mechanic that took 2 hours on a bs with friends day. It's possible just have to know the right people or catch someone at the right time.
