Question Test Pipe Question

I recently ordered a newer version of Kamikaze headers with a downpipe and I also ordered a test pipe. Ive heard people saying Lancers loss power (top end or high end) due to lack of back pressure, is this true? also do i get any benefits for having the downpipe and test pipe? if so, what? Id appreciate your help. THANKS!

well if your exhaust is that free and you only have an intake in your engine bay, you pretty much lose alot of power. you are pushing out alot more air than you are taking in. get it?

Should be moved.

My thoughts are that a header, DP and exhaust makes you loose some LOW END performance (0->2500 RPM), whereas you significantly gain on the high end for performance (2500+ RPM).

Keep in mind that without the back pressure, you will loose some low end performance. With headers, DP, test pipe and catback exhaust, your call will likely SMELL of the exhaust gas .. and won't pass emissions.

My 2 cents.

Well I have intake, header, cat back, and I lost some low end power. It actually seems slower coming off the line, but when it gets to 3500+ rpm's i can feel it pulling. Just driving normal pulls you back a bit.

But when racing, it might just equal back out by losing the low end but gaining in the high end. With every exhaust mod you need to get an intake mod, that's why my next mod will probably be a throttle body.

The first second you go its not gonna take off, once you get going it will be pretty good. You need more air to come in more easy for it to go faster, so get a tb or intake manifold.

smelly yes, louder yes

if you have a complete catback, youll notice you make a loud popping sound after letting go of the gas.

I guess the question still stands, I know you guys have shared your thoughts but Im pretty sure someone out there has Intake,Header,"TEST PIPE", and Catback Exhaust and should post what the result really is.
