Why are Evos so much harder to find than STi's?

I don't personally own an Evo, but I know it will be my next car, I've heard from every Evo owner I've met that they love it and wouldn't trade it for anything else. Don't really know what's wrong with Stis/WRXs but the only thing I've heard positive about them is the V8 sound they have after certain mods, both the Evo and subie look good but the Evo definitely wins overall.

That certain mod is swapping in an ls1, that's about it.
