would this make you worry

So I am looking to purchase a evo and I have been studying this site for a while now. I came across a 05 MR with 94000 miles for 17000. whats your thoughts on buying one with this high of mileage. it does a have a couple mods that I can see from the pictures, catback at least, mbc, licp, bov , arc filter. I plan to dd this car and do full bolt ons, but I don’t want to buy someone else problem. it is 180 miles away so I can't just drive up there and check it out real quick. so if I'm going to go, then I'm gonna wanna take it home as long as it test drives good and is as clean as it is in the pictures.
so what's your opinions

17000 isn't an amazing price for a car that's been driven almost 20k miles/year. unless they have full maintenance records from the car I'd stay away from it

Those miles aren't bad as long as it was properly maintained and tuned.

these cars are 6-9 years old your very likely to see higher mileage on them. I agree if the service is up to date and everything checks out your good to go

your math is WAY off. 05 car and its 2012...

its roughly 15k miles given a 6 year period. ie purchase date of the car.

to me that is a LOT of miles. i wouldnt buy it.

but unless there was zero problems with the tcase and acd AND he kept up with the maintenance and can prove it. like the 60k service. and drivetrain fluid changes. then i would possibly have a second thought.

i got my 04 unmolested with 50k miles back in august

Can none of you do math? 12-5=7 94/7=13.4

13,400 miles per year is not excessive in the least, depending on where you look "average" is 12-15k/year.

Id have the owner take it to a Mits dealership and have them do a used car inspection on it. Itll cost you but much cheaper than paying down the road for all the issues it could have. Plus if you do buy it then its money well spent on making sure you have confidence in your purchase. Its been modded so someone, at some point, got on it and had fun. We ALL do. Very doubtful that this person modded up the car and then drove it like a grandma for 90k+ miles. Good luck!

I would agree to this whole heartedly. The mileage doesn't matter as lond as the car is well maintained. I bought my 2003 Evo VIII in the summer of 2006, with 66k on it. That's 22k/year, and the car was a great shape. I have 143k now, and to someone who doesn't know would think its high mileage, and maybe beat. I can say I'm prolly one of the few people on here who autox, hpde, and still dd my car...with 143k on stock block and head, stock headstuds, never rebuilt trans, fc, or rear diff. Its all how the owner cares for the car.

the car is at a small dealership in GA so i dont think they would take it to mitsu to do the inspection. they do not know if it has been tuned or have any records since it is not a private seller. the conditon is really good from the pictures i have seen and he said the clutch doesnt feel stock

You couldn't get me to even consider buying a modified car with no records, no matter what the mileage was. Chances are this small dealership picked it up at auction. Keep looking, you'll find plenty of nice cars available on here. The right car is worth the wait/trip.

Completely agree on this ^^^^ Records are key!! Without them I will not buy a car! Maintence history is key for any car but bills, invoices and such for parts, labor and tuning is key on a modified car. Otherwise you may end up with lots of trouble! Wait and find a gem! Just for instance, it took me 9 months to find my evo, but shes a gem and glad I waited around ( took a look at many evos in the process but most were beat up and modified with no records) Its easy to fall in love with the beat up ones, but make sure you see more than one before you commit
Good luck
