Trans and clutch time.

So looks like its time for a transmission rebuild.
1. Bad Vibration in 5th gear
2. Grinding between 4th and 5th
3. Some grinding from 2nd to 3rd
4. Throw out bearing making a lot of noise even when in gear
My clutch is holding but has around 25,000 miles on it and is a exedy stage 1.
So just looking for some advice hear. My car is manly a street car that i enjoy but I don’t want to brake the bank on this. Any advice is welcome.

Shep is the best for transmission work. I had mine rebuilt two years ago and I've put it through some hell.

As far as clutch...we all know this is highly debated but I've read and seen a lot of good reviews on the new competition street clutch. It's their 3000lb pressure plate and street disc. VERY affordable and holds up well to repeated abuse. I have their twin but I considered this clutch before I rebuilt my twin.

Yeah i know a lot of guys are going to say twin disk and to be truthfull i would love to run one but after shipping and rebuilding the trans i dont know if i can drop another 1600 on a twin right now as much as i would love too. On top of that i dont beat on my car that often and only go to the track maybe once or twice a year.

Shep built my 5 spd & I am about to send him my T-case. In regards to the clutch I suggest asking whoever builds your trans what they recommend. Most of them will have certain clutches they recommend & work best under the tranmission builders warranty. If you are spending that much $$ on a transmission I would do just about everything they recommend, clutch, fluid, break-in, etc. You may save some $$ going with a cheaper clutch but you could be doing more harm on the trans then you know.

Yeah I wasn't suggesting a twin. I was just saying thats what I have. And since you have a Exedy stage 1 I figured you weren't the kind of person who took your car to the track much.

BTW the Competition twin is nowhere near $1600....more like $1100

Just got my t-case done! Kind of unexpected and was a bit disappointed cause I had other things I wanted to do but it all happens for a reason!

Call Competition and ask them about their 3000lb pressure plate street clutch kit.

English racing is all you need. You can get your transmission rebuilt and pick up a new comp clutch from them at the same time.
