Tune Needed?

Random question, did a search but could not find a solid answer...

I will be putting on a test pipe (Megans) and an Amsoil 4560 filter on fairly soon. The IX is 100% stock right now. Will a tune be neccesary with the two mods being applied? No aftermarket gauges have been applied yet either.

I know it is highly recomended but I live in NorthEast/Central PA with the closest solid tuner being 3-4 hours away.

It has always been reccomended to retune it after those mods, plus you will pick up a few more ponies

A tune is always ideal after any performance/engine oriented mod, both for performance and safer driveabilty

But for instance and just for a quick reference I went without a tune with:
Turbo back exhaust
intake
intake manifold
ic
ic pipes
fpr
and throttle body.
All without any issues except when temps dipped below -5 degrees C.
All hell let loose with fuel cut at WOT! Heavy flames FTL!!

Knew I would be buying lots of parts and didnt want to have to pay for many tunes lol I ended up self tuning my car with cobb pro software to get me mobile for the time being

(never would I recommend anyone following in my footsteps of not tuning to save a buck when it could have costed me more if anything servere went wrong)

A TP and filter shouldn't require a tune. The factory computer should be able to compensate for that.

So general consensus is, tune... which I understand is always the best/most beneficial option.

With the closest shop being almost 3 hours away, I was just curious if the stock system would adjust to the tp and filter like my other (non-turbo) cars have. Or should I just wait until I have 10 or so mods to put on at one time to compensate the tune costs?

No tune required. Save your duckets for when you have compiled some real mods, then get yourself a tune. Create a mod path, follow it, and then contact Mellon for your tune.

Going to replace the fuel rail and I'm also going from a walbro 255 to a walbro 400 E85.

Keeping the 1050 injector for will I need a retune?

Are you already on an E-85 tune? As long as you have an AFPR and you can ensure that base fuel pressure is not increased when you install the 400 and rail then you would not need a tune.

If you can't monitor/verify correct fuel pressure, then you would need an AFPR, and you would probably need a retune. The best way to tell would be logs.

If your currently running on a gas tune and switching to e-85 then yes you need a tune.

Your fuel pressure at the fpr should be the same. If not just put it back to what it was before and you should not need a tune cause it's not like your fuel maps are changing

If I want more hp, then retune the car? Or these changes will not offer up additional whp?

thanks

Fuel rail and Fuel pump will not produce additional horsepower, they will allow you to safely run more boost, or a bigger turbo that produces more airflow at the same boost level safely.

Airflow makes power. Fuel is needed to make power safely. If your fuel mods do not match or exceed your airflow mods you run the risk of running lean, which causes high combustion temps, and possibly (probably) knock.

If you want to make more power and your engine internals will support it, turn up the boost, and get a tune.
