is it woth it to get a upgraded timing belt?
is it worth it to upgrade the timing belt or just run another stock timing belt, getting ready to replace mine and was not sure what to do with this?

If you ever had one break and know what kinda damage it does being its an interference motor then that should answer your question. Stock will work just fine but if you want added pertection go Gates.
ahhh! thanx, this is what I had understood. It's of importance, I had a bad timing belt go out in my old galant, messed up the valves so I have timing belt ptsd now.
no I don't, so that's why I asked. stating the obvious didn't help me understand anything.

Timing chains do the same thing when they break, are generally harder to replace, more expensive, etc. I prefer belts. No front case gasket/rtv to deal with. I dont understand why the federal gov would pass a law requiring engines to have timing chains.
