advice on evo viii purchase
advice on evo viii purchase
hey guys,
although technically i'm a "newb," i'm not really a typical new guy. i've had my fair share of outstanding cars (see my signature). i drove an evo x for a while, that i absolutely loved. i've also thoroughly enjoyed my twin turbo bmw's; they are SO easy to make extreme gains in hp/tq with.
anyways, i'm looking at an evo 8 and i could use some pointers. i prefer to buy a stock, never modified one, but i realize how impossible that will be. i was curious if there was anything in particular that i should watch out for. i've done most of the modifications and maintenance on my bmw's, with the exception of installing the catless downpipes (135i and 335i) and the headers (current e46). i'm probably going to maintain my evo myself, as well.
the stickied threads are great, i've been reading those for a while. i also appreicate this forum's setup; it's unique from the dozens of other forums i'm on. overall, just looking for any warnings or advice before i pickup an evo 8. thanks in advance

All of the used car guidelines apply...
Plus, some evos have corroded connections at the drivers kickpanel. Look there, as it can cause gremlins.
Drive the car. Listen for any whining noises. Get familiar with transfercase whine sounds ie YouTube... Make sure the car your buying is whine-free.
These cars have more frequent maintenance intervals than your BMWs do.
