A sudden question came to mind.
A sudden question came to mind.
If i put a 2.0 evo x versus a 2.5 sti. Assuming both horsepower and torque are the same, will the 2.5 sti be pulling ahead of the evo x since the engine is a bigger capacity.
Hope this dont sounds too dumb.

well i have a 03 VIII and my buddy has a 2011 WRX(2.5) both lightly modded.(prior to my build) he made around 311AWHP and 351AWTQ i made 325HP and 311TQ and we were pretty evenly matched (very close races) at the track he ran a fastest pass of 12.904 and my only pass the same day was a 12.901. Out of the whole his TQ plays into it heavily he accelerates very quick but then it tapers and my HP advantage permitted me to slowly walk up to him. it was never more then a half a car length. i don't know where the Xs stand VS the VIIIs or IXs. hope this gives some perspective.
Both at the same HP & TQ, weight and driver plays a huge part, but who makes the power faster is another Q.
The tuning plays a serious role along with the setup. Then you also have to be reminded the more dispalcement the more torque hell have over yours. Then I believe you have a way to stretch your powerband more because you have more of a rev-range than him where his would fall off.
I think the newer evo is a slightly heavier than the newer sti so technically it has a mild advantage but, honestly I doubt you see any noticable difference. Whichever car is lighter will be the one thats faster if they've got the same HP and TQ. Evo's however tend to have more high end power big turbo kits. Just the FMIC vs TMIC. The evo always feels like it has a turbo lag and hard kick where as the wrx/sti seems to have power instantly but it tapers off by time you shift and then the evo's made up the distance.
