Buying my first evo, factoy preformance upgrades?

Hello, this is my first post and I'm clearly new. I've never owned an evo, but I'm in a position now that I'm deciding between a evo, sti and 370z.

So the evo is looking the most attractive because I can drive it all year round and the local dealership is managed by a guy who loves his performance cars. He ran a evo in the newfoundland targa rally, and he's willing to take both my lifted and built 94 chev pick up and my mildly built 03 accord for a lot higher then all the other dealers.

But, after a test drive he mention that they offer three levels of "kits" right from the factory that are covered by warranty.

Kit one features a intake, exhaust, tune and mild suspension upgrades and will run me an extra 4500$. He promised me ~100 extra whp.

Kit two features kit one, plus full suspension (includes cornering of the suspension), headers on the exhaust, various bracers and such, a weight reduction kit, big brakes, upgraded intercooler, oil cooler (upgraded? are the evos oil cooled stock?) and better tires. This kit runs closer to 9000$ depending on what tires and such I want. It's only slightly more whp then kit one but he tells me the handling is going to be night and day difference.

Kit three, for a massive 35,000$ on top of my sticker price. He's saying my evo will be "race ready and street legal". Semi stripped interior, roll cage, new turbo and internals, wider rims, racing seats with harness, high flow cats and a titanium exhaust plus "more".

What worries me about kit three (besides having to sell my soul to afford it) is he promised me 750 whp with good driveablilty and everything is covered under warranty.

I'm very skeptical of all this. But if it's legit I wouldn't mind spending an extra 4500$ or many even 9000$ if it's worth it. I asked him for part lists that go with each package, and for more information on it.

He tells me all the work is done by his three top mechanics, the same guys that have built several of his targa rally cars.

IF YOU'RE TOO LAZY TO READ ALL THAT READ THIS:
Is this a normal thing? Should I be worried? I've never heard of this from any other dealership.

I'm pretty sure there's no dealership that would warranty your car with the amount of mods that would be done to the car. That being said you gotta pay to play. If you wanna play it safe 2k in parts could easily get you 300hp. But like I said I've never hear of a dealer doing anything like what you mentioned.

Okay, I can't even believe that this post is on here... This is crazy talk.

First off, This is very sketchy and as far from the truth as possible. Buy an EVO but NOT, I repeat, NOT buy one from this guy you speak of. Seems like a load of crap. First off Mitsu has a hard time keeping the warrenty on just the basic Stock GSR or MR, put a bit of extra's on it and forget about it. So the Answer you are looking for is NO, this is not normal and you should be turned off from this guy.

Secondly, Those prices he gave you for the so called "kits" are insanly high. You can do all that work yourself and research what parts that you want on your car without having some sketchy guy put bogus parts on your car and charge you an arm and leg for. I keep reading your original post and I laugh, This is so farfetched it's insane. You should go right to the dealership this guy works at and smack him right in the teeth, cuz you sir, would get ripped off if you did this.

Third, I understand that you would want to go to him because he may offer you the highest prices for your trade in, but that's up to you. If you want to still trade your vehicles in for an EVO at this place, make sure he doesn't touch the EVO and tell him to keep it bone stock. Just outrageous. Seems sketchy that he offers you the highest trade in value plus offers you bogus upgrades, sounds like a fishy place in general.

These are my thoughts, you are going to make your own decisions, but I strongly suggest you reconsider sir. Best of luck

Thanks, that's the answer I was expecting. I just took a run up to the shop where I get most of my aftermarket work done and spoke to them about it. They told me all the work this guy does is by his private shop, and it's over priced but he calls it "factory" so that people who have no idea what their talking about think it's safe and they're getting a good deal.

Looks like I'll be heading to the other dealerships around here to get some more prices.

Sorry for looking like a idiot, fell free to delete this thread.

Sounds to me like a sales pitch. The only evo I know of that offers any type of upgrades were the fq 350, the fq 400 and neither of those are offered in north america. The only other one was the Buschur cars and I don't even know if those are still available and those were the same thing basically.

I couldn't give you any information to what is or is not going to fly in Newfoundland, but in the US everything mentioned would be a pipe-dream

Yeah .... ok..... Pretty sure the only accurate bit is I competed in Targa Newfoundland this year.

Just to clarify we do not keep factory warranty on vehicles that have been modified. We do however offer the option for us to modify your vehicle and include the price financed. But for sure your factory warrantyu on those components are void after. But we will maintain warranty on parts like power windows locks radios airbags etc. Becasue they have not been affected by the modifications. The only thing i can think of with regards to the 35000 modification would be a tdx pkg from ams. But that includes no roll cage wider rims suspension etc. its just the instal and build of a tdx. I figured id clear the air because i like to maintain a nice image for our dealership. we opperate very transparantly and do enjoy haveing enthusiasts for customers. But we are very clear on rules and regulations when it comes to modification and warranty!
