Just wanted to say hello. I am currenty in Afghanistan. Upon my return I plan to get an EVO X. I am partial to the 5 speed of the GSR but supply and price might push me to used. Obviosly I would take a good deal on a MR. I have seen some new left over 2012 GSRs on auto trader for just over 30k so that will be my first choice. I look forward to getting to know the members and as soon as I get back and get my EVO I will post up some pics!

the sand box... well you know... it is what it is. Im a civilian contractor embeded with Marines as part of a counter IED task force. I am out of Charleston. I have followed this car since it was in the concept stage. I have always loved it. I have finally broke the wife down whinning and crying so she finally gave me the go ahead. The fact that she got a new 8k diamond on her hand played no part what soever
I sooooo cant wait. My fear is that all the ones within like a 500 mile radious of Charleston are overpriced or selling at MSRP. I have a hard time paying that when 1500 miles away i can get one for 5k below MSRP. It will come down to me deciding is it worth my time to save 5k to spend a weekend on the road. Or try to haggle a local dealer. Unfortunatly my local Dealer has bad reviews and customer service is horrible. So repairs are also a concern.

 

There is a nice used one in Wilmington NC. 22k miles OB GSR 2008. They are asking 26k.
I just bought a loaded 2008 MR with 40k out of shaw for 25k OTD.

 

I have heard they made pretty good computer changes in the 10's and up that are not in the 08's are there any reasons to be afraid to go back that far? are there any major issues? I have been reading and there seems to be little (what i consider personal) complaints about all the models. But I also read that they did a ECU overhaul on 2010 and up. Thats why I was leary to go any older than that. I am new to the forums and internet here isnt quite what it is in the states so it is slow going. I surely dont want to come on here asking noob questions getting the old "use the search" noob replies to questions that have been answerd time and time again. If i can find support that you can flash an 08 to be just as good as the 10's and above I would be all over that. I also read somewhere about some timing issues on some of the older models due to streching. I will keep trying to educate myself i hav 3 months before I get home so there is still time. I have horrible luck with used cars and in my opinion this car is one of those models that is a little more high risk to buy used. Dont get me wrong I know they are good quality. But most people who buy them dont get them to stroll around the neigbor hood in them.
