About to get a Lancer
About to get a Lancer
Hey, I'm new to this forum I don't have a car yet but I will be getting one. I'm a U.S. Marine stationed aboard Leonard Wood at the moment. When I get home in a month I plan on getting a new toy. So far I've been leaning towards the ES but I don't have any knowledge about the car. I'm mainly a domestic driver this is going to be new for me. Just wondering if you guys had any advice about to give about picking the right car and so on. Thanks!!!
It depends what your interests are with your car. If you want a strictly point A-B car then a lancer is your best bet. If your looking for something with a little kick with some sportiness look into the Ralliart. If your looking for something more pure sport with almost no comfort, look into the Evo.
I would love to have an evo because I'm more interested in "spirited" driving more so than commuter. Also something to do a lot of aftermarket to. But unfortunately budget is going to play a factor in this :/
You can find used Evo's and Ralliarts fairly cheap now, about mid 20k range. Also by the way, if your a young PFC or LCpl, insurance is going to hurt. (BTW I am stationed at Lejeune)

Welcome! I drive a GT, and i love it! Unfortunately like you, budget played a roll in my car buying or else I would have obviously gone with the EVO.. one day.
goodluck!
goodluck!
To the OP. Save a little and get the evo, you will be glad you did. I am an e-3 and saved for 6 months to buy an evo X. Can afford it and am glad I waited.

1.) I'm not sure why you're assuming i paid more than i could have for a used X. If i wanted to buy a used car with a ton of miles, then sure, i would have gone for it.
2.) Dont assume you know that I could have waited six months to keep saving, unfortunately i needed a car asap. So no, i didn't have six months to save the extra cash.
3.) Practicality is important to me at this point, and right now an EVO isn't practical for me.
..so I would appreciate if before you go off making assumptions and trying to make me look dumb, please get the facts. Thanks. :-)
This is probably going to come out way more b*t*hy than I'm intending, so I apologize in advance,

The line "To the OP" was directed at the OP as it states "to the op"
I didn't assume you paid more than a used X. I used fair market values, so unless you bought it from your uncle for 8k, then you paid in the range of a used X. There are very nice cars in the marketplace that do not have a ton of miles in the 20-23k range.
