background:
I have been here for 2 years.
bought 3 different cars here.
new to the performance car world.
Definitely drive it before you pay anything, these cars over here all look shiny and gorgeous (interior and exterior usually in great shape!) not necessarily the case with the insides. check the motor oil, boots, rust areas.
If your buying from a dealership, see about getting a new set of tires, most of the time the tires on the cars are borderline but if you ask them to lower the price or throw in a new set they'll usually throw in the set (Double check, make sure they swapped ALL the tires before you leave).
If your buying from a regular person, take it by the insurance place and make sure it hasn't been totaled out. It's easy to total your car here get the insurance money and continue driving the totaled car (YOU wont be able to insure it). Also check when the next JCI is coming up, it sucks buying a new car and finding out the JCI is due next month AND then having to drop $2000 on repairs to make it JCI ready (use it to your advantage to drive the price down). If they have aftermarket parts, Headlamps, brake lamps, removed CAT etc. make sure they include those parts or that money will come out of your pocket when the JCI comes due.
Take somebody who knows the vehicle, because you might buy the wrong EVO. They swap body kits like mad here. Most of them "look" like EVO 6's.
Good Luck!

Hi All, just new to the forum.
I'm the proud owner of New Zealand's only Evo VI RS2!
I bought the car not knowing just how rare it was, according to Mitsubishi, NZ got 2. After researching, it seems mine is the only registered one in the country.
Pretty stoked!
I've owned several Evo's over the years and bought this as a Sunday driver but have plans to soon unleash it's potential.

I have seen an rs2 in Hamilton nz in the purple colour. That was deff road worthy and driving around. This was a few years ago though. Number plate had vi rs2 or something along those lines.
also remembering NZ had no import restrictions, so any car yard or person could have imported one from japan without going through Mitsi. Mitsi NZ would have ordered 2, so thats what they will most likely be going off.
My best friend bought the 2nd Tommi Makenin ever in NZ back in 2001 and paid 79,999. now that was crazy.. and it was the first white one in NZ.
