Hey guys new to the group, thinking of leaving the Honda scene and trading in my EP3 for an EVOX MR!
I like the MR because i am in traffic 5x a week and don't want to deal with a clutch anymore but i still want some thing that will set me back in my seat and take to the track on my weekends.
Haven't been able to test drive one yet but i know I will love it.
Only thing that is kind of turning me off is the MPG: 17 city/22 highway!?
that's insane!
My civic is Highly Modified and uses 91 octane only and gets about 350 miles on about 11.5 gallons of fuel. How does that compare to the EVOX MR?
i do about 90% Highway driving and total almost 2000 miles a month. Do you think its going to hurt me more or maybe be more less the same?
I also took a look at a 2010 Lancer Ralliart sport hatch today and was impressed at the fact that it is just short of Brembo's, Recaro seats, and some HP to being dubbed an EVO am i right? But just because the price tag is smaller and less HP doesn't give this car the edge in MPG at all.
I've also seen the EVOX SE model have the SST auto trans mission but the closest one I've seen is about 350 miles from me in AZ.
I appreciate any advice you can give me an hope to join the forum and be an active member. THANKS! -ethan

As noted, Evos don't get particularly good gas mileage and 17/22 is reasonably accurate. Do your math and see how it works out. I think, after a tune, you can expect slightly higher highway results if you don't get into it.
A Lancer Ralliart sport hatch? Yes, it's an Evo X except for the suspension, motor, transmission, handling, and looks.

Making power with boost friendly AFRs means poor fuel economy.
I'm currently averaging 19.1mpg with my bolt-ons and tune. Prior to my tune I was averaging 18.7-19mpg.
I've recorded every expenditure on my Evo since purchasing new, and keep my fuel logs accurate, with aCar for Android. Here they are: aCar Evo logs

^^ this.. And no the Ralliart and Evo aren't the same.. The Ralliart is missing a good bit, but you can still make good power with one.
It's not just a de-tuned evo with a smaller turbo.

Do you know how easy it is to swap brakes from evo to ralliart?
I think a tune and a nice suspension set up could give the gsr a run for its money.
That's roughly 19mpg.
Main thing is, if you’re looking for something that gets good MPG this isn't
the car for you. Though most of your drive is highway miles. You'll probably
be around 22mpg. But I wouldn't expect much more than that. Not that it's
impossible. Just wouldn't expect it.

$15 pill +free tune and it makes the same power as a stock evo x.
Yes I am well aware that despite all the similarities it is NOT an evo and can't really become one! But someone looking for a hot hatch that is quick as ***** with slightly better mpg, it's great!
I'd say, if you were spending lots of time at the track, the evo would be better. But more time driving like a normal person, the ralliart. At least that was part of my decision making process. I drive a lot as well, the evo would have been too much gas and too rough of a ride for me. I opted for the RA because there is still lots of room to tune, and it was easier to live with as a DD. I usually get 300-320 miles on a tank, hilly highway driving, with 2-3 gallons left.

ralliart is the same motor, same transmission. different computer program for the tranny but it's the same thing and you can install s-sport (if you want to void the warranty). The motor is the same thing. Of course different important parts like FMIC, smaller turbo, and all that other stuff. But it's the same 4b11t. It's also the same awd drivetrain as the evo 9. I think a good way to look at it is not as an uptuned gts, but as a downtuned evo 9 with a 2009+ body style and X tranny.
The reason I would never buy a ralliart is because I know I would always kind of want to upgrade to one eventually. Why not just get what you want the first time..
The ralliart manual doesn't even really make the difference clear. Oh well. Still love the car though.
To be honest, if I had an extra chunk of cash to buy it and cash to maintain it and the extra gas, I would have gotten an Evo. But, I definitely am not missing it. Totally satisfied (for now
)
