Wow i didnt expect such a variety of spending figures on their evos. I should have started a thread asking how much you spend and how much you earn to get a better idea lol. Can i mods?

If only you knew.
Japanese evo 8 owners have probably spent double than most in the US on just buying and owning the vehicle. It it outrageous to own a car in japan, and the cars cost close to double too!!

I have the benefit of having great friends and a boyfriend who's into cars - he received lots of goodies for his M3, so it was mutual haha

Close to $40k not including cost of car... Why? Because racecar. These are the things you try not to think about...

That also doesn't include cost of a tow vehicle and trailer lol. Good thing I'm not married.

The problem is, the juice you get from mods, tends to be short lived novelty in power department. My car feels fast to everyone else, but to me it just feels normal.
I bought the car with most of the mods already, bbk full 3 inch cbrd fmic Megan dp straight pipe custom exhaust custom turbo manifold cams and a tune with 412 dj whp. I spent 1400 on fuel system injectors and dual map, for 93 and e85 now making 490 on e85 and 440 on 93 I'm at the limits of my setup, thinking of going bb turbo and maybe some good headwork but stock bottom. I could run another couple lbs with this setup and churn out 500+ but wanna keep it safe Dd all told I spent to date 15k including down payment and monthly payments. And I'm strapped. I think next up is a built 2.2 along with trans and diffs. Can't see that coming in less than 15 gs

I have 22-24k in just mods. The car is currently making 582hp on a set of dyna packs on 93oct. Still have about 7-8k to spend yet on trans, e85 tune, coilovers, and slicks

You guys are nuts. Just goes to show that this modding game is never ending. It's so much damn fun. But hey, i bet some drug addicts spend at least what we spend, if not more on their addictions. I'd say most of us average $500-$1,000 per month on mods. That could easily finance a drug habit. Point being, we could be spending our money on far worse things. It's hard for people who dont love modding/cars/driving etc to understand why we do it. But to tell you the truth, I couldnt live without mods! Lol

^Exactly! That's what I try and tell my girlfriend when I say I'm spending $5k+ on a set of coilovers!

Yea, I feel ya. After reading these posts, maybe I should have skipped going to college and bought/modded an evo. It would have definitely been cheaper than $100,000 for a BAS in Mechanical Engineer. But lets not hope not! Currently starting the career section in my life, hoping to get an evo this year or next.

You know how many date nights I had to sacrifice so the boyfriend could buy new parts for his STi (when he had it) because "he just needs to" lol - I knew allllll about the car modding game before this Evo came along. Now I have to tell HIM we can't go out because I need to save money for car parts lol. My, how the tables have turned.
