Well today I decide to take my evo out on this nasty rainy icy weather. I decided to go take it for a ride and go over to my buddies. Long story short. I was driving up a hill and with all the ice and rain falling I slow down and put my car in second and go up the bridge. My car was around 4000 rpm and it seemed quite loud. This was also about 4 blocks away from the police station. After I get up the bridge i put it in 3rd and just coast through by the police station fallowing the limit. about couple blocks down I hear sirens and looking back i see a cop flying down after me. I pull over thinking hes trying to pass. He pulls right behind me.. GREAT. He comes up and fallow the normal routine. I ask why did I get pulled over? He says your car is loud. I explain that I was in lower gear so I can get up the bridge nicely. he goes back to his car and within a few minutes he comes out and has some papers. Great. he then hands me a citation for "Careless driving" WTF!!! I ask how he explains he heard my car spinning wheels from 4 blocks away. The thing is he said he didn't even see me! I told him I was in a lower gear that's why it was loud and i asked how do you think my tires were spinning he says the car was getting louder. LOL I told him when i speed up usually cars get louder. He tells me if I wanna take it to court I can. Of course ill see you there.

My question to you guys how can I get a careless driving citation from a cop in the nastiest weather possible and not even seeing me?

Sounds and looks like you just got caught acting a fool and now you are mad. That road isn't that bad ud have to be in 2nd gear that high in the rpm Band.

 

Ohh I will. I forgot to go back and take a pic of the bridge I was so mad at this. But in this picture it is actually right after the bridge and thats how it is through out the whole city.

 

Acting like a fool in this weather is pretty stupid. I don't no about you but I like my car in one piece.

 

A good piece of advice, never argue with a cop. If he is going to right you up, no roadside questions are going make him say " I'm sorry I pulled you over, forget the ticket I was going to write". You know anything over 3k in cars sounds like it is going fast. Once you spin your tires on rain/ice slicked road, hence careless driving. Sounds to me like you were going up that hill a bit to fast for road conditions. If he didnt see you, that's another story. Maybe you were boosting past him & got snagged. This a ticket they give when no radar is used. It's almost like a reckless driving charge except no high speed. If I were you I'd get a lawyer & let him do his thing. Sounds like you got a posses off cop, so you don't want to have your insurance get tagged for the next 3-5 years. You will never convince a judge about wheel spin, of you were on an old beater maybe. Good luck, keep thoose rpms low near the boys in blue.

He didn't see me. And yes I understand I wasn't arguing I have a good lawyer. He even told me he just heard me no visual.

 

I think he was writing u and assuming u were spinning so he wrote u the ticket trying to call ur bluff so u would just pay it. I'm an officer and he HAS TO SEE U. I don't know ur states laws but I've never heard of "careless driving "? My state it would be a " reckless driving". Either way id show the date and time that picture was taken of the road and present it.to the judge when u argue the ticket.good luck sir :-)

 

First off you must of been acting a fool cause you stated you were doing 4k in 2nd which means your in boost + road being slick= tires spinning. Stating you had to be in that high of rpm in the low of gear to get up a hill? Naw cause I live in Ohio where it has been way worse then that and its better to be in a higher gear with little torque.

Speaking as an officer I can tell you right now that we deal with cars all day long and you know the sounds you hear. His report I bet will be something to the extent of " As I was walking out of the police station I heard a vehicle that sounded like it was on the gas hard and spinning its tires. A vehicle crested the hill and I saw it to be said vehicle. I then chased him down and pulled him over and so on."

If you are going to do stupid things be ready to get burned a time or two. I have and I have gotten popped but I realized that I made the mistake and the officer is doing his job. Take it as a life lesson and either don't get caught or just stop doing dumb things like spinning tires on slick roads where you can injure someone else.
I can hear motorcycles over a half mile away at times. I can hear cars with ****ty exhausts well past 4 blocks away and I for sure can tell when some one is just spinning their tires for fun. You acting dumb instead of just telling him yes I understand why you are pulling me over and that I did something stupid probably helped you get that ticket. Even if you would of admitted after the fact he might of been more receptive.

 

Thank you for the advice. Yess in our states we have wreck less and careless. Careless isn't as bad as wreck less. Here in our state one wreck less and its an automatic suspension.

 

I understand were your coming from. I no alot better then acting like a fool on days like these. I just got the car too. And idk about most people but I feel safer when the car is in a lower gear were i dont have to worry about he turbo spooling up or just the lag of being in a high gear and waiting for it to spool up and fishtailing when i do hit boost. And i did not admit to acting stupid at all. I was completely honest with the cop.
