looking to get and evo

well im looking to get an evo since it is tax time and prices are going up on cars. and i can sell my car for more then im into it
some back story on me.
i drive a 2005 srt4 i have a full big wheel stage 3 kit. 20g 47lbs wheel full pnp on turbo. on 24-26 psi at 6500 rpms with e85 and its daily driven.

ive narrowed my search down to an evo 9 (would like a gsr or mr with paddle shifters). so i can pick one up at a used car dealer. millage can be close to 90k if has been well maintained
some concerns i have is the tunning. differental problems. turbo choices and how much the stock internals can handle.

ive read over the basic mod paths and the newbs guide
the evo doesn't seem to be very modding friendly come paired to the srt4
IMO
with the stock turbo is it a manifold design like the srt4?
is it better to just keep the stock turbo and mod it with bigger wheels and pnp or get a bigger turbo like a 50 trim or some other bigger turbo?
how is the evo at higher hp 400+ for daily driven. i do some long distance driving. and alot of round town driving when im home.
with my car right now im just at a point where i need more boost lol ive got the bug really bad and trying to cure it.

I don't think you've done enough research

Just for your information, I noticed that you said "MR with paddle shifters" Evo X (MR) came with the sst transmission, with paddle shifters. Not the IX/9.

You really should decide how much power your looking for first before jumping into a purchase. 400hp out of an srt is very different than 400hp out of an evo. Most people including myself use the stock turbo up to 400whp.

Evo8 does not have cruise, I don't think 9 does either so long drives might not be comfortable for some drivers.

MR has a 6 speed, which generally speaking is considered to be less desirable than the 5 speed due to strength.

If you just slap a big turbo on any car, you also need to be aware that the stock internals might let go if you are not careful, and thats on any car.

As the other people have said, you have much more reading to do about the evo. These cars are great if taken care of and respond well to the right modifications.

I,agree I do need more research. I've been reading and Googling every question I can think of.
When I was reading the spec on the different year I saw twin disk on both the 9 and 10 and I knew the 10 had paddle shifters. Wasn't aware it was only on the 10.
Just as the srt the internals have there limits ours seem to be around 420-450 hp then rods start to fail. And our weakest spot is the transmissions snapping input shafts at only 350 tq. With the stock Turbo you are pushing to 400 is that changing the turbines or compleatly stock. How reliable is the car at 400?
My main source of fuel is e85 does the evo respond in good terms with it. Meaning just a few bolt on and a change in tune will work for the change. Or do certain parts fail because of the corrosive propertys it has.
Cruise control don't bother me as the srt doesn't have it. Heck we only have two electric windows and two air bags
What is the, average price for a evo 9 2006 I'm seeing about 24k with over 50k that is almost the price of a,new evo 10

It is a completely stock turbo. I just purchased the vehicle two weeks ago but I did maintain the vehicle for my friend before I purchased it from him. The car did see a lot of commuter miles which seems to be the most wear and tear you can put on a car in my opinion and it has held up great. at 54k though it is needing a new clutch, shocks and struts, and brakes have some vibration in them. It is mostly maintenance items, and the 60k service is coming up.

In regards to e85 a lot of people run it. I haven't done enough research to run it on an Evo but on a DSM there are no problems. I would assume it is the same for the Evo because I see more of them running e85. A quick search on here will yield numerous threads about it.
