Which type of evo should I get

I'm new to the forum and don't know much about the different types of evos but I know I would like to get an 8 or 9 mr but I would like to become more informed about the different types of evos ie RS, mr, gsr or which ever other ones there are. Any info would be very appreciated. Main question is which type should I look for and why? Thanks

I understand your new to the forum and to Evos but I just want to give you a heads up. There are die hard owners for every trim level and every Evo generation. It would probably be best to do some good research on all of them and come to your own conclusion. Good luck with your search, man. Evos are amazing cars, it's just finding the right one for you

I would buy the newest Evo with the least amount of mile in your price range. If possible buy one with few modifications.

From the research that I've done I like the mr the best but the gsr's and RS's are cheaper and easier to find is there any down sides to those two over the mr?

Welcome, this sticky should get you started:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...oking-evo.html

I recommend you look through some of the sections of the forum and look at the stickies to see if any of them contain information you're looking for. The search function is also of great use.

There's a trim/model for whatever your plans are.

those are to pretty opposite purposes... Hope you're not looking for comfort if you plan to build it for racing...

However your questions are so broad, there are hundreds of threads on here about everything you're interested in. It's all personal preference.... I bought an 04 as I didnt want the 6speed glass tranny nor did I want to deal with the ACD and I wanted BBY

It was my daily for a year, however has since been fully built, big turboed and has a roll bar in the back seat, and multiple chassis braces so it is not the most "comfortable" ride but it is functional for what its built for.

The only downside to a MR is its a 6 speed, its weak most people swap to a 5 speed to handle more power but Daily driver evo MRs keep the 6 speed and some people really like them.
I have a Standard IX, its a cross between the MR and the RS but with a 5 speed, and electric windows and locks and such no gauges thou. got it with aftermarket BC coil overs so that was nice
It all depends on what you can find in what condition, for what price really. There Arent a zillion of them on the market.

It will primarily be daily driver and only racing at summit racing tracks a few hours away from where I live every now and then.

Sounds like a GSR might be your best bet then. The MR has the 6pd that in most cases is swapped for a 5spd under heavy loads and racing, and the RS is pretty raw and not really made for daily driving.
