Evolution 9 2005-2007 Differences?

Hi,

I am looking to buy an Evolution 9, but am just wondering if there is any difference between a 2005 and 2007 model (JDM as i am in Aus). Was anything revised or added?

Thanks.

In Aus, you can get 2005 evo 9's and evo 8's.. I guess they're one of the very first.

But anyways, are there any differences in the year models?

I have an 05 and it's considered an 8. Although, I have seen places advertise the 05 as an 8-9 model, if that makes sense. The differences I can think off the top of my head would be the front bumper and the 9 has Mivec. There is a thread in the "Newbie" section that kind of breaks down some of the differences.

Oh, i'm not sure if i was clear. I meant difference between a 2005 Evo 9 and a 2007 Evo 9. Just like there's differences between '08 Evo X and '12 Evo X. Sorry for any confusion.

Idk about anyone else but i gathered that already.

You do get the 3 sub categories over there right? Rs, gsr, mr. And also the wagon. Each of those have various changes. I've been studying evos for years and i honestly don't know a single change that took place on the ix's it was a gap model just to change things up a bit before they revamped the car as a X.
I can tell you make sure it has ayc, sas, 5spd, bilsteins if at all possible. And if you can find one with a stock clutch. Can't really abuse these cars on the stock clutch so its a safe bet it was driven nicely.

We only have one Evo 9 model here, comes with ayc, sas, 6spd, bilsteins. I think it is equivalent to your MR almost.

Thanks Joseph, i just wanted to know. Seriously looking at a 2005 Evo 9 and wanted to know if i was missing out on anything that Mitsubishi decided to change on the later year model.

I miss my 6 spd. I own an MR. The bilsteins are incredible. The 6 is smooth. Youre really lucky to pick up sas. Can easily upgrade to a red and have stock spool. Ayc i have never experienced unfortunately. The one mod i regret is swapping my 6spd for this 5. The car lost all refinement and feels a lot like a honda civic these days.

Also you wont notice it as much as usdm evo's but a lot more torqu can be squeezed out of a completely stock car just from mivec tuning. Anyway best of luck finding your car. Mines been a dream come true since i bought her.
