stock for stock, and for a 99% street car. I'd probably take the STi. Really liked the look of them in 04/05 as well, and i believe they both had the strongest trans.

If you like doing your own maintenance though, the STi will drive you nuts!

 

I got a Evo 8 RR for my daily (HKS 272 cams, ACT clutch) I got it for a year now just make sure your maintenance is up to date (fluids). My friend got a 04 STI's black on black the set up is pretty nice and sounds great but every thing stop there cuz his car always breaks down, he always call me to pick him up, and take him to the the subaru dealership to pick up parts. Every time we go there the sale's guys ask me if im trading my Evo 8 for an STI's. I said hell nah, i told them that's why im here is to pick up parts for his STI cuz it's a piece of crap. They just walked away. Lol

 

While I agree with you that the trannies are definitely strong, I may have to disagree with you on the street car. Yea, they are fun cars to drive but they are so uncomfortable to be in for longer than a short drive. Our cars are definitely more comfortable to be in.

 

STI's are a little more comfy, but EVO's make power easier. Its all personal preference. You either love it or hate it, both cars are nice to me though.

 

WTH you talking about my buddys 07 sti ride's terrible... Even with coilovers now it feels like a slammed honda civic


I'll tell you this. He said he should have got a Evo, if that tells you anything.

 

I've driven both models, and as much fun as it would be to have a 6 speed, I find that Evos drive and handle better not to mention are more comfortable in my opinion.
