Hi, i just recently purchased a Evo X GSR, completely stock until this weekend, putting in a Megan 3" dual exhaust, aFe stage 2 intake, Blitz venturi BoV, and some other small things, but that so far is whats going to be changed, also it has about 80,000kms on the engine, its an 08, now for the actual question.. earlier this year my air box was popped open, and that caused loss of boost of course, now im not to familiar with turbo'd engines yet, but... i did take it in afterwards and they just switched the air filter and my boost levels were seemingly back to normal, my turbo wasnt lagging as much.. but now its doing it again, everything seems fine with the air filter/box... i currently dont know what the problem is but around 3k rpms my turbo seems to "charge" and once i hit 5k rpms i seem to go no turbo at all, like its not performing... is it possible to have a leak somewhere in my turbo its self? any suggestions would help thanks guys.

Definitely sounds like there could be a boost leak somewhere. Are there any shops around where you live that could check it out for you?

 

well theirs my dealership, i live in canada, alberta... i should probably jump on making an appointment there huh? or would a tuning shop be more viable to me?

 

you probably have a boost leak somewhere as mentioned above. If you have a performance shop that is near you, that is familiar with EVO's I would take it there before taking it to stealership.

 

You don't loose boost from an open air box. With what you have given, my guess is that your car is fine. Sounds like your not satisfied with the stock tune, lol. The evos stock tune is a rich pig that pulls hard quick and then falls on its face in higher rpm's. Start searching for a tuner. You're going to need one after you start modding anyway.
