Question Newbie question about rims

Can someone out there who knows what their talking about explain to me what size rims and tires i need for an 03 lancer es? Also, does anyone out there know from either word of mouth or personal experience, the largest size tire/rim the ES can take? I'm scared to get a pair that is a lil to big, I don't want the tire to hit the tirewell whenever i hit a bump. Thanks

I was thinking about these in 17"

Wacha think?

most people on here aren't big 'chrome' fans but some are.

u can get 18", some have 18x8

the lug pattern is 4x100 on the ES. if uget 18x8 u need i think 225x35 i think..not positive

17's work best with 205/40/17 or 215/35/17.

Moving to the newbie forum.

Try looking around the wheels, tires and suspension forum and/or running a search and you should find some info in there. You're trying to keep a relatively similar rolling diamater and not go too wide on the wheel/tire so that you don't rub. I don't think you're gonna want wider than a 7.5" wheel whether it's 17" or 18". And my own personal feeling is you're gonna want a little more tire unless you have pristine roads...which I'm sure you don't. 17x7 or 17x7.5 w/ 205/45/17's or 215/40/17's. Plenty of wheel, plenty of tire, and a good bit more resistance to the abuse that NJ road conditions will put on the car.

7.5 wheel either 17" or 18" with the correct off-set will work the best...

ive seen 18's although not sure what other kinda mods they got or if they rub when they hits bumps or whatever, i have 17s they never rub, in terms of tire size, i work in a tire shop so this is my specialty, i wouldnt recommend the 205/40/17 they are very small profile, and u feel EVERY single bump in the road, plus thats kinda skinny, i got those just cause thats what the rims came w/. I would do like a 215/40/17. I know the middle number is still the same but thats a ratio of the width. with either i would recommend not running ne more than 30 lbs of pressure. Trust me that will break belts verrry easily, PS u might even be able to do a 225/40/17
