Thoughts on painting Evo

What are your thoughts on painting an evo IX?

Found a red evo, but red isn't my first choice.

Also, is it possible to get any of the IX stock paint from mitsubishi?

I've had several problems with Mitsu paint in my VIII. The dealer did a "one-time-only, good-faith" respray of several areas (door jams were the worst) that were getting rust bubbles through the paint at only 40k miles. Their painter said that it was likely due to poor cleaning/contamination of the area before the paint was originally applied. Prep work before spraying is always key.

Given the poor quality of the paint and application from the Mitsu factory, I would encourage you to repaint if you can.

Just my experience and $.02

Professional and correct painting is not cheap.
If you want a stock color is would be much more wise to just but a car in that color.
You aren't thinking about the things you don't always see but still need painted, and the hardest areas to paint, like door jambs, under hood, underside of trunk, ect.
