///M3 guy, new around here.

Hey guys, finally got the funds to afford an Evo VIII/IX. I have the first owner coming to buy my M3 that bought it when it first came out in '97 and ive always wanted an EVO and I guess its my lucky year lol.
I know this has probably been asked a million of times, why not ask it again and see what people say different, since new members join everyday.
But what should I look for when buying one? what needs to be done when you buy one first that you guys recommend besides oil change (regular, or full synthetic) etc....

here are some pics of my M3. pulls like a biotch and beats e46 m3 like its no other.

^These are very good links and should keep you well informed. Common sense would point you towards a 9 because they are newer and are a decent improvement over the 8. Honestly I would really make sure your search is as thorough as possible. Questions that you should have are:
-Has this car been owned only by the seller?
-Is he/she honest and straightforward?
-Are there records for the mods on the car?
-Get a compression test
The more you look into the car the better off you'll be because these cars can be a lot of fun. Favorite model of M3 btw.

Its funny that your selling a 97 e36 m3 to get an evo, thats the same thing I did back in 05 . I had a 97 e36 4dr m3 and a 90 e30 m3 and had to make a tough decision as in which one to sell, well needless to say I sold the e36 m3 and bought my 05 evo brand new. I have always owned BMW's and loved them, but let me tell you that you wont be disappointed will the evo. I think when setup very well it's a car that can handle with the best of them, and becomes stupid fast when modded. Good luck with purchasing your evo and BTW is that your 335i? Just wondering because I got a 335 xi for my wife.

You don't need to buy from a dealer to get a car loan, just go down to your bank or local credit union and they will be able to help you out with a car loan whether you buy from a dealer or private party

I went from a 98 e36m sedan to a Evo and i don't regret it at all.. Both car are amazing IMO but Evo of course takes the cake.. What all did you have done to the M pretty hard to beat a e46 unless you have a s/c or turbo

Yeah, I would like to know your mods too. With just simple bolt ons it will seem to be tough.

Nice man just got rid of my 98 boston green m3 for my evo IX this month!

I was looking at 8s/9s, but the 9s interior is what really sold it for me, the 8 just felt too cheap.

I've always loved German cars especially bmw. started out with an Audi thanks to my parents, but always wanted a e36 m3, sold the Audi for the bmw but I didn't buy it till last year but I always had a soft spot for an evo because I drove my cousins evo and his friends sti I fell in love with the evo. And my parents only own German and all my relatives besides about to be me sticking out haha. And no that would be my cousins 650hp street car lol, he's like you'll regret it, but I know I won't lol.
