Why does the evo bog when launching?

I searched and couldn't find an answer. As the title states, why can't the evo launch without bogging down. I know I could learn to dump the clutch, but I don't want to damage the drivetrain or clutch. Just curious now. Does it have something to do with it being awd?

if you do it right it doesn't. you need to slip little bit the clutch , but there is a long thread about this, i think in the motorsport section below.

Yes, there are a lot of pieces that need to move to get teh car going. Just read about this in a driveshaft thread. Seems lowering the rotating mass improves this. Aftermarket driveshafts save about 15lbs of rotating mass.

Thats why it bogs, if a awd clutch is dumped it will fall on its face, awd must be slipped.

A zillion reasons, any car that bogs is falling out of its torque band plain and simple--fix that issue and you are good to go. AWD is a major factor, split 400 ft ibs/tq by 4 and you get 100 ft ibs per wheel--not much---think about an old sentra with a 1 leg diff--about the same, no matter what it is you do you are limited in spinning that tire--. Same with the evo, all principles apply. Build and tune your car for a flatter torq curve lower in the rpm band and that helps. Built it for all out hp at 8k and unless you can solve the issue of falling out of torque band--then its going to bog.

Thanks- I get tuned next week and ill see what they can do with getting more torque at low rpms.

Basically, something has to give or the car will bog. That could be the car shooting forward like a rocket, the tires spinning, or the clutch slipping. If none of those things happen, the engine is hitting a brick wall and can't turn fast enough, and as previously stated if the engine can't turn fast enough, you don't get power.

Unless you have a lot of power, the clutch needs to slip. If you have a lot of power, the tires can spin. If you have a lot of power and slicks, the car shoots forward like a rocket....or something breaks
