New Guy

Hey guys, im happy i found this forum sounds like a nice community. Heres a little bit about my self, im from a country called lebanon and since their are no laws over their i started driving at 14 years old. I have my own bmw e30 m3 and have a year of experiance driving a manual transmission and also know how to drift really well. So im comming to usa and im really committed from making the switch from no traction at all hahahahaha to full traction im not exactly worried about the evo being im only 15 im worried that switching from 2wd to awd will be difficult for me. I live in San Diego and plan on paying cash for a evo i really dont even know where to start looking or any things i should be looking for when shopping so im either going for a evo 9 mr or a 05 gsr although ill be fine with a 05 gsr with low mileage. I did do my homework so i know a lot about the car and plan on working on the ecu my self. alright please right back i would love to hear your guys' opinions. P.S. i have a video of me doing donuts with my e30 on youtube if you guys want to see it

What you should be concerned about is getting a US License, paying insurance and how you are going to pay for maintainance since you are only 15 years old...

Since you have the money you can probably get the car you want. But here in the US, minimum require age to get an actually license is 16. You can get a learners permit so you can drive your car in the mean time. Also I believe insurance is require by all state law if you're driving a vehicle in the US. Welcome, good luck and be safe

Edit: Also yeah, insurance will be a pain since you're still very young. Best to be under your parent's insurance when get the car since you're still 15.

Insurance is what covers your car, yourself, other driver and their car if you happens to be in an accident. I don't know about how you guys do it over there in Lebanon but here you need to make sure you're car has insurance otherwise if you get pull over by a cop you will get a ticket if you don't have it.

Let me just quote this: Sure you can buy any car you want, but what's going to kill you is not the price of the car, but the price of your insurance.

ohhhh i get it now, and how much money are we talking and also in lebanon if you end up getting into a crash most of the times over here the people just get out shake hands and apologize and thank god that they are in good health, no money is given whats over even if the car gets totaled, its really differnt from the crash compilation i see on youtube

Yeah....that's NOT how it works here in the USA.

In CA, you need Auto Insurance in order to drive your car legally. The minimum state auto insurance coverage is Liability. At your age and the fact that you want an Evo, I would get FULL Coverage.

Pick up a phone, call an auto insurance company such as State Farm, Mercury, Geico, Farmers.....the list goes on. You can research more Auto Insurance Companies online...google it. They will provide you with a quote.

A drivers license is not given to you based on the fact that you already know how to drive a car...it is based on meeting a minimum age requirement, passing a written and driving test, providing proof of insurance and paying the fees associated with getting your license. The DMV in the state where you live can provide you with the details. If I'm not mistaken, here in CA at 15 1/2 you can get your Learners Permit. Then at 16 you can get your drivers license.

Good Luck.
