Do we need turbo timer?

Never had a turbo car before planning to get an evo gsr really soon as long they have the car I want. Was wondering do we need turbo timer? If so what's a good one to use? Greddy, HKS, Apexi, etc.. Tia

No, you do not need a turbo timer.

They are not necessary. Use that money towards something more beneficial for the car.

Thought it was necessary to prolong the life of the engine so it can cool down after shut off. Before I was planning to get turbo in my integra so I read up on fi stuff and back then people all had turbo timer in their eclipse etc.. Like back in honda dsm days lol. So its not necessary at all for our evo? It doesn't cost much so I don't mind. Will it void warranty? Thanks for help so far.

No. 2 reasons-

#1 Why spend money on something you can do by sitting in the car for 30 seconds?

#2 The first time you have an oil leak that is bad and panic trying to get the car turned off while your turbo timer pumps all the oil on the ground or pumps the oil on the fire that happens from some leaks in the engine bay, you will understand why turbo timers are one of the worst ricer mods ever.

Wow, never thought of it or heard it went that awfully wrong. Well in the case of sitting in the car for 30 seconds before shut off i don't mind that but what if your rushing to work or going to be late for appointments or whatever wouldn't thats where the turbo timer come in handy so you don't have to be more tardiness then you already are? All great feed back but would like to learn more of why its not great to have one if you call it rice mod... Still learning

#1 30 seconds usually wont do anything.. If your running the car long you should be waiting longer then that.. #2 if you are driving and theres an oil leak. youll most likely still be rolling when you goto shut off the car in which case the Ebrake will be down, my point... The car will turn off immediately..

Not necessary, the turbo cools down when you are approaching your destination, unless you go all jackie chan and pull the hand brake and drift right into a parking space
