thinking about getting a vta bov
thinking about getting a vta bov
before you spend alot of money on a bov, do a little test I did. Go to home depot, get a 1 inch pvc plug and plug the intake hole where you recirc. the bov. now go for a test drive. When I was in the driveway revving, it sounded real nice and loud but driving it was another story. It was even louder while driving the car. the stock blow off valve blew off by itself at around 6k rpm. Coming up to a stop sign, the cars rpms dropped to 400 and almost stalled. made a left and drove it hard. I tried going to 7k but pshhhhhhhhhhh at around 5500-5800 rpms. I decided it wasnt worth it and flipped a ***** and my car stalled. After that I went home and now I want to spend my money on something worth it. I heard all of the horror stories that people have had with a VTA BOF but I figured that everyone else is stupid and didnt know what they were doing, plus, my cool factor would go way up with a BOV. Now I know that I was stupid for thinking like that, and I am happy i didnt spend $200 plus on something that was way gay. I only spent $0.60 on this test.
Well, you are right to do a test on VTA, but my friend with the HKS bov never stall out or have any major idling problem. If you want the whooossss sound, but not the headaches, try open air intake and the greddy bov. Remove the inner spring and it works like stock. It's not super loud, but enough to here it. Why dont you try stealth FX. It sounds like a cool unit. I'm pretty sure you'll get the whoossss without the stalling problem.
don't VTA unless you have a stand alone and have the MAS removed.... I'm not going to get into it why cause i have before but you are running the car pig rich if you vta and wasting too much gas and also lowering the performance.. just get a DV
