bov vta question

Hey guys got a question for everybody I just bought a turboxs bov off craigslist but need to get a few hoses before I can install it, and yes it will recirculate. While messing around I decided to make my stock bov vta. drove it around a bit and only noticed a decrease in boost per shift, but that is something that I knew would come with vta. I just want to make sure for the day that I run the stock bov vta that its not going to mess anything up. I didnt get any codes so im guessing its going to be fine but wanna check up with everybody first. I do realize that our cars were made to recirculate thats why its only temporary

As far as i understand it the ecu doesnt even recognize its lost pressure that you vented and still thinks it has it all, so in turn no codes will pop or be popped over lost boost. Im not sure of exact numbers or what specific damage can be caused by this, but running a full vta system is very bad, tho i have heard from several people on here that they are running a 75/25 recir/vta fitment with no issues. I would just be careful and please use the search function as this has been asked several times over

Simple answer - VTA ends up dumping metered air into the atmosphere, as opposed to being recirculated back into the intake. The ECU still considers this metered air as part of the volume of air in the intake, so it messes with the AFR, basically making you run a little rich. As Antiblitz said, you most likely will not throw a CEL from this, but it's obviously not ideal. I don't see any advantage to running VTA besides the sound, but if that's your thing, just get a new intake and enjoy the sound while running the proper recirculated setup. I for one, love the sound, so will be doing an intake when I eventually get tuned.

Real simple answer.......search.
