Bought a evo 8 but not going hard enough!

Hey guys so as the title says i bought a 2003 evo 8 gsr ### import so the 6 speed box.

It has a few bods such as:

Apexi turbo back exhaust with high flow cat

plug and play ignition amp

apexi type r boost controller

injen air intake

bigger FMIC

coil overs

golpher alum radiater

so as you can see a few mods that should make it go quite good, it was in a small front ender and the intercooler piping is abit restricted and the silicone hose connector has a couple of holes could that be why its not that quick?

Engine seems quite healthy havent done a compression test but worried as to why its not going that hard feels like my stock type r was quicker!

I have bought an intercooler and waiting for delivery so will see what happens after i put it on

im thinking of upgrading the injectors, putting a bigger fuel pump and remapping the ecu, or if i can get abit more money upgrade the ecu and run a dual map and tune it for e85, should that give me enough poke? and how much more should i be expecting?

Thanks for the future feedback

boost leak test.

larger injectors alone will not produce any more power.

silicone couplers have a couple of holes ??? hahaha. Why would you buy an intercooler and not just the couplers and licp ?

Yeah last time i listen to a mechanic was to busy to look at and took the guys word said intercooler looks buggered and piping, ended up buying a intercooler kit and decided to just do it myself, intercooler doesnt look bad only thing that really looked bad was one or two piping at most...so learnt a lesson there...i should find out tomorow if this will make a difference

Trying to add pictures but cant, filled up the intercooler with water and not a drop came out, but the lower right hand intercooler pipe is pretty squashed up, its a black Lighweight injen intercooler piping set and air intake. going to try refund the intercooler i bought seems to heavy missing silicone hoses and much harder to fit with injen air intake etc.

Definitely sounds like a boost leak somewhere. If there is any leak in the system or a bad seal somewhere, that can definitely drain your power. Especially if your couplers have a couple of "holes".

Also, I fixed one of your pics for ya. Other one doesnt want to work.

I was run off the road a few months back, ended up having a WAY worse LICP pipe than what yours looks like. Took it to a muffler shop since I was in a pinch and they used a pipe expander to get it back to near normal. Surprisingly enough, no boost leaks.

You don't need an aftermarket ECU to run dual maps BTW.

So me filling the IC with water was a waste of time?

I was actually just going to get a hammer and try beat it into place and i didnt even think about taking it to a muffler pipe, dont know what i would have done without this forum!

The couplers do not appear to actually have a full holejust grazing on the outside, im going to just fix that pipe, change the couplers just for peace of mind and pressure test
