Where to buy an Evo x
Where to buy an Evo x
Hey everyone,
Im new to this forum and was wondering if you all had any advice where I could buy and evo x gsr in the north or south carolina area. Its a broad question I guess but its seems that many delears do not have them in stock in the area. Im hopefully trying to get a evo x black pearl with sight and sound, and a sunroof. Ive been dreaming of owning this car for multiple years and I've finally got a good job and saved up enough after college. I currently drive a protege5 that i love to death but I thinks its time for an upgrade, the guys from mazdas247 have been awesome and I hope this thread will prove to be as fun and helpful. Any advice would be great thanks.
-Steven, thinking of calling it STEVO hahah.

Get on auto trader and look. You can sort by distance there. Most dealers will advertise on auto trader.
However, a word of caution. Watch out for buying out of state as absurdly low prices. Often times these deals aren't what they appear to be. Take Florida for example. I work at a dealer, and I had a customer come in the other day from a dealer in Florida. The ad was for a 13,999 Outlander. This is a vehicle that MSRPS for 21k. Turns out the dealer was having a promotion where you could drive a car and enter to win $5000. Sure enough, they were including that in the price. This price also did not include $795 for destination charges. It also included Mitsubishi Owner Loyalty, which you don't qualify for.
Also be aware all dealers charge something called a docing fee. This is a fee that we charge to pay for our administrators to do the titling, registration and filing. This is something that most states set a maximum on. So of course, all dealers charge the state max! In MN for example it's $75. In CA and FL its $700.

Go to your local mitsu dealerships and tell them the exact car/color/options that you want. Tell them you want the Out The Door total cost. Then go with the cheaper dealership. They should be able to get you the car you want. Even if they have to get it from a different dealership.
You can search acorss the entire US for your perfect Evo X and have it shipped to your door usuaally for around $700. This price can be negotiated within the price of the car as well.
Interesting you mention South Carolina. A few years agom my brother flew there to pickup a mint 2000 Camaro SS and drove it all the way back to Arizona!

So been talking to a few sales people and one of them quoted me at 43,xxx out the door with fees and everything else included. Wow thats kind of steep, Im currently only in the 36-38 range. It might take me another half year. they also said that there is only one with navi and a sunroof in the entire east coast. Didnt think it was going to be this hard. I know it'll be worth it later but seems like it should be easier and cheaper than this.

I agree that $43k is a little high for the OTD price. But the car would be around $44k after tt&l if sold at MSRP and of course will be slightly higher or lower depending on your location. If you are looking for around $36-$38OTD, you will need a dealership to take off $6-8k off the MSRP pricing. Considering that this may be the last year of the X (who knows though) and the rarity of those color and options, you may need to settle for an Evo with less options. Either that or find a really good deal. But for your price range I think you would need a dealership to loose money on the sell.
First, Welcome! Second, good name for your car! ^_^ (just got my license plate "Stevo-x")
When I was looking for my car, I didn't have much choice because I didn't want to ship it and would rather get it locally (within 400 miles). Long story short the dealership cut me a deal for a GSR with no options for 31 OTD 2012 with only 40 miles on it, so I picked it up. If anything maybe try to order it and give you a deal since they don't have to keep it on the lot.
