Finally got my dream car.
Finally got my dream car.
Hey guys, just wanted to re-introduce myself. I signed up for the forum when I was young. I always wanted a Lancer Evolution and now I finally have one now that I've got my Bachelor's degree and a good job. I made this video when I was younger if any of you have seen it...
I've also had a 2008 Civic Si for 3 years and an 2007 Nissan 350Z that I loved very much.
Here are a few pictures of my car. I am new to the Evo community again and this is a new car. Is there anything I should know about the car? maintenace. breaking-in the engine? Any help is welcome. Also, what oil do you guys recommend for the first 3k oil change? It's a 2013 MR by the way...

I had an FG2 that was done right - built motor, trans, and a Full race turbo kit among other things.
I am in love with my MR. With just bolt ons and a good tune it is deadly on the street because of the short gearing making use of your power band and the rapid shifts.
Enjoy it - love the color!

Congrats on all of it!
I personally go easy on the first 500 miles with a new car. You could even go to 1000 if you so desire. Going easy meaning no red lining it or getting into boost all too often. With the MR I would even just leave it in Normal for that time and then later try out Sport and S Sport. Some people even wait out the first oil change all together. FYI I simply picked Mobil 1 for my MR.
Other suggestions would be looking into some clear bra options for the front bumper and hood and also for the rear fender wells if you are so inclined. (I did not and wish I had.)
I added an Escort 9500IX radar detector to remind me of my momentary lapses in judgement in regards to local speed regulations.
All weather floor mats i.e. weathertechs are nice. (looking into some now myself)
Good professional quality paint sealer to help guard against the environment.
Plan to get your Transmission Oil Changed at about 30K, as well as the coolant and possibly even some of the fluids for the SAWC doohickies - again plenty of inputs in regard to these as well as forum posts.
I am personally on my 3rd set of tires (2 OEM 1 other) - in large part due to my spirited approach and it being my DD car, however the stockers wear quick so start shopping lol.
pretty much just my initial input as a fellow MR owner clocking in at 33K on the ODO. *** YMMV - many will disagree etc. just my opinions so ...ya.
Enjoy all the newness and congrats again.

All of the above!
Read the manual front to back and really get to know it well. You'll see the official break-in period is 600 miles, meaning no revving over 5k during that span, no long trips on the highway, amongst other things. Remember that you're breaking in the entire car and drivetrain along with the engine, so suspension as well, and even the speakers!
