New Guy

Hello all. I've been lurking on the forum for a few weeks now just reading old posts and familiarizing myself with the Evos. This is my first Evo and first Japanese car period. My most recent performance vehicle was a SRT-10 truck that was too expensive to make go fast plus ridiculous gas so I traded that in on a 2014 Jetta then picked up my Evo for a weekend car. This Evo was previously owned by Michael Daigle if anyone knows him and this car carries quite a reputation (not a good one depending on who you talk to). I think I'm like the 7th owner of it but long story short it once upon a time made like 600awhp on the original 2.0 then Mike got it and tracked it quite a bit with no issues then blew the motor when the radiator hose came loose mid-race. Mike then had the engine completely rebuilt and prepared fuel-wise for E85. Current issues I have with it are intermittent starting problems and hesitating when at 3/4-full throttle. At any rate, here's the meat and potatoes:

Not sure what a tune has to do with anything but no, I have not. English Racing is very reputable and I will stick with their tuning for now. Any little bugs I've had with the car so far appear mechanical and from lurking on the forum I'm not the only person with these same problems. Going outside right now to trace starter wires and try and fix that starting problem.

Thank you. It definitely turns heads but really I've noticed most Evo 8's and 9's do now. They are reaching the point where guys like myself who couldn't afford them in high school can now so we are appeasing our nostalgia and buying them up. As for power, no not right now. I'm keeping it down to like 16psi until I fix these little bugs. Once it can crank reliably and so forth then I'll delve into working the boost up and logging and checking the tune and all that. I know there's different schools of thought on buying a modded Evo vs a lightly or un-modded Evo but good luck finding one that wasn't molested at some point. It's like going in the club and thinking you'll realistically find a virgin woman. But anyways, once I work out the kinks I hope to achieve 600 or so hp so we'll see.

Looks great.

When was the last time English tuned it? Any change with the setup since the last time?

Thank you. Aaron tuned it last year sometime I believe. I bought the tune from the guy who had it before me (technically there was a guy between us for like 2 weeks but it got repo'd after he got arrested). So far as I know nothing has changed. Mike, guy who had it built, is local and a good friend of mine and looked it over and couldn't see any changes. I confirmed with Aaron from ER that the tune was his and he said it is and confirmed it was a finished tune when he sent it to Mike last year or whenever it was.

lol yeah there's a group of us here in TN called TNMOG (Tennessee Mitsubishi Owner Group) and there's a ton of DSMs running around Nashville and Clarksville and elsewhere down here. We were on our way to a G2G in Nashville that particular day.
