Regarding the MR SST....
Afternoon all. Quick potentially newbie question here about the SST. I bought an MR for a pretty great price after my STI was totaled by a 16 year old girl texting and driving. I used to love modding cars and I've seen my fair share of track days, however now I'm too busy with other things to give up time to track, autox, etc.
That's why I bought the MR. I need an AWD beast that can take me to the ski mountain and is still fun to drive, so the SST transmission is nice for my driving style. I did have a few questions though regarding the way it works and shifts as I have never owned anything other than a true manual car.
When I get on the gas a bit and shift the car around 4-5k (using the paddles) there is a huge delay and lag in shifting and the car revs up to red line. I usually take off the gas when this happens because I don't want to be up in the red too often. My question is: is this normal? Does the fact that it's a twin clutch mean it will keep engine RPM's up while it shifts? From the few videos I have seen they seem to shift quite fluid. Could mine be going bad? This happens almost anytime I shift in any gear at higher RPMs.
Thanks!

Note: I don't own an SST, but I've test driven a Ralliart which had one.
Like most automatics, it accelerates based on how hard you mash the throttle. If you push the throttle to the floor it will shift later to give you faster acceleration. If you don't want it to do that, don't mash it to the floor, or you can use the paddles to shift early. Note that once you use a paddle the car enters manual mode, and you have to keep using them until you tell it to go back to automatic mode. It still shifts "smart" so if you red line it and keep your foot down, it will shift for you. This might be your issue. If I recall, exiting manual mode is something like holding a paddle for a few seconds.
Edit: Worth noting I've read that the SST transmission should be kept in sport mode, the normal mode slips the clutch and can wear out the clutch sooner. Don't know if there's any truth to that because I stopped researching when I decided against getting an MR, but you might want to look into that.

Awesome thanks for the response. I messed around with the car a bit yesterday and I've concluded its the difference in Normal mode vs sport or super sport. The car performs fine in s-sport with very fast shifts but not so much in sport mode and it definitely slips in normal mode.
I am going to keep the car in sport mode as often as I can. I wanted to do that before but I was under the impression that the sport mode or s-sport would be harder on the clutch, however, slipping in normal mode is exactly what I'm seeing.
Thanks!
