Question about evo 9
Question about evo 9
Hey guys i am looking at purchasing an evo 9 and wanted to know the difference between a jap vs australia version of the evo 9 any info be great I live in australia and I found a really nice evo 9 for sale but its australia model
JDM:
rear wiper
180km cluster
awesome random jap writing everywhere
little round part far right side of cluster says " evolution "
slightly more power stock
slightly more to insure due to " import "
Tyre pressure sticker reads in bar
HID Headlights
ADM:
No rear wiper
240 or 260km cluster (can't be sure)
Normal english
says " Lancer "
slightly less power stock
slightly less to insure
Reads in psi
believe halogens were standard?
Thats about it from memory.. its mainly cosmetic differences.

here are some jdm evo 9 specs. I believe that some major differences to check are gear ratios, weight etc.
I think jdm version is always better. I can't remember all the differences but there are some details that you would love about the jdm ver.

You will not be able to buy a JDM version of the 9 in Australia as the 9 was officially imported by Mitsubishi Australia, and grey import laws ban individual models of cars being privately imported if they are officially imported by the manufacturer.
Edit: The one exception to this rule is if you own the car in another country and you had lived there for more than 12 months. You can then privately import the car into Australia. This is how the two (as far as I know) Evo 9 wagons that are registered in Australia were imported. I don't know of any sedans that have been imported this way, and I would imagine the expense and hassle of doing so would not be worth it when you can easily buy an official imported one.

I know nothing about ADM cars, but before buying any car, anywhere ask yourself:
1. Can I get parts for this?
2. Can I fix this or get it readily fixed?
