conversion from fwd to awd

from what i've come to understand the oz rally's body is equivalent to the evo's, is there a way to convert my car to an awd, using the evo's parts? if not, what are some of the best methods of increasing power coming out of my car at speeds above 100? i have an automatic, and at like 95ish if i floor it, it'll downshift and get a little more power, but after like 120 i feel like i'm crawling up, any suggestions?

FYI: Doing a full conversion from FWD to AWD is only practical using this method:

1) Sell OZ Rally Ed
2) Buy Evo

The modifications, body reinforcements, etc. to a OZ are going to cost you more than the swap to an Evo.

As far as getting a little more power there's lots of ways. I've heard the OZ Forced Induction crowd is having quite a bit of fun these days.

im sure it can be done, but its gonna be a long road. You might as well change the engine if you do that and if you change the engine you might as well get an evo.

You can probably find an evo engine +tranny, but youll have to change the rear brakes to disc and im not sure if mitsubishi sells a kit for that. Itll be a lot of work though i can tell you that much

change your engine? you mean for the awd, or because the engines are so different from lancer to evo?

you will need a new tranaxle first.... and then drive shaft, rear differential, and your car is still going to crawl over 120mph.. the fact that hp rating is soooo low...

It can be done...but like someone said your hp loss is gonna be so bad it wouldnt be worth it. There is a guy with a 99 gst spyder that did an awd conversion. His car was also in SCC in the 400 plus hp club title Topless Turbo Insanity pretty nice I saw a vid on the net with him on a lift...all wheels spining...I would think he probably paid a few grand for the conversion. Just used parts from a gsx. For you it could be much more. There are too many differences in from the EVO to the Lancer (body and completely different engine).. For a 2nd gen eclipse its pretty much all the same stuff save fwd vs awd.

You should've done a search. This has been talked about soo many times now. But yeah, your way better off just trading in and buying a Evo. Or you could always Turbo, its what I did.
