special class required to buy an evo when they came out???

I had a friend that bought an evo back in 2003 and she said that she had to take a class before she could buy it. Anyone ever heard of this??

First I've heard of it. Ask her who was giving the class.

I haven't take to her in a few years. She had her evo for like 2 years then sold it. But I remember when she first bought it her telling me this. I was reading the thread about factory brochures thats what brought this to memory and figured if they did have this class there was probably a video and I want to see it lol

I get it, sexism. COOL, dude.

I'm not sure of the age we are talking here, but either:
A)her parents were helping buy the car and made her take a safety course or
B) perhaps her insurance rate was so high she had to take some safe-driver education before they would insure her.

i bet they instructed her about the stock tires. anything else sounds rediculous. I signed something about the tires, no "training" though

Friend of mine bought one new in 03, he had to watch a video, and have some talking. Another guy around here did the same, and promptly rolled/totaled it 1 week later.

Same when I bought my '04 Evo. I had to watch a video, which was mostly a "why an Evo may not be the right choice for you" presentation. It covered short tire life, stiff handling, poor fuel mileage, etc. I even had to sign a paper acknowledging that I had viewed the video, and wanted to buy the car anyway! I wish I had that document, and the video today. I still have the original brochure, and the window sticker. No mention of an MR version though.

Damn. Really? Do they do this with any other kind of sports car? Vette's? Viper's? Ferrari's?

That just sounds stupid. Its a car. A quick car that can make you feel like Lewis Hamilton. Just know you are not a F1 driver and you could possibly get you *** handed to you if over drive the car on city streets.

I think some exotic super cars have like a one-day training/orientation for new owners....
