What's that lil' plastic stopper?

Quick and dumb question I have. Regarding the little plastic stopper under the gas pedal. Is that supposed to be there? Or is it like "training wheels" to keep new evo drivers from mashing the pedal all the way down. Im sure it's supposed to be there, but just wondering. Thanks!

I always thought that was some sort of sensor to tell the ECU that when depressed, it is WOT. I could definitely be wrong on this, but I guess untill someone says otherwise...

its just the stopper that keeps you from mashing it through the floor, just like a rest for the gas pedal...anyway, with the stopper there mashed all the way down is 100% WOT.

If you have an AFC, select monitor and 3 channel and view the throttle position, then floor it..and if its reads 100% then your at 100% throttle because the AFC goes by the Throttle Position sensor.

Thats 1 way u can be sure, but mitsubishi wouldnt make a sports car with a gas pedal restrictor!

It's there so you can mash the pedal to the plastic!!! I think it just makes sure you don't break through the floor and start Flinstoning you *** around town.

yeah i noticed this while i was drilling my pedals for my mitsu aluminum pedals this weekend.... yeah definetly not a sensor or a restrictor.... similiar to one of those rubber stopper you put on walls so you dont dent the wall from the door knob as you open it hard...
