How often should you change in the oil?

I was told with the sythetic oil that we put in the EVO, we don't have to change the oil every 5000-7500 miles. Is this true?

Wrong, you should change the oil more frequently than that. I change my oil every 2,500 miles because I drive it like I stole it. But for a minimum you should change it every 3,000 miles.
If however you baby the car (yeah right) and you drive it like you're 90 years old, every 5,000 miles should be sufficient.

After about 10,000 miles I'll add the product tufoil into the oil after I change the oil. This should reduce wear and provide some margin of safety. My father has used it for years and has gotten a lot of crappy cars to last really long.

Only if you use a true synthetic like Mobil 1 , Royal Purple, or the like. Those are fluid change at 6K, filter at 3.

Anything else is around 3K miles.

Have you ever had your 2500 mile old oil analyzed? I'd be willing to bet the analysis would come back saying "This oil has a great deal more life left in it". Don't buy into the oil industry marketing scam - follow the manual. Trust me, automotive engineers drive the car harder than just about anyone, and they came up with 5000 mile intervals for a reason.

3k is that magical point. Either soon before or right at 3k miles and you should be ok. Just my $0.02 though

imo, you're going to get people that say change it every 2000 miles and others that say change it every 7000 miles, but it all comes down to what you're comfortable with. if you think you drive your car hard enough that you would need to change it at 2000 then by all means, go with your gut instinct. if you're willing to risk waiting longer and longer up to 6-7000 miles, then that's your choice too. i myself am going to change it just before 3000 miles, just to be safe, and id rather pay extra than have my car chokin up ;x also, my .02

The biggest problem is caused by the filter, next is dino lubes break down. I had a freind that had a full race Porsche 911S. He used Royal Purple and changed his filter after every race, replacing only lost lube from the change. After 30,000 miles he had the oil tested and it was as good as fresh-from-the-can.
Keep happy while still in warranty and do everything they want, then do what's right.
