Cel

Hey I was talking to a couple of my friends the other day, and they told me that if the CEL is on then you car doesn't run to its maximum performance. Is this true for our cars and all other cars?

take aftermarket headers for an example, just because the CEL is on after putting on new headers it's not running at anything less than max performance. i have a CEL on because of the cat (i dunno why) but i havent noticed any difference in performance. I know that the 2003 Sentra's go into "safe mode" or something and decreases performance depending on what is triggering the CEL.

Like bobaab says, it depends on what's triggering the CEL.

I have illegal aftermarket headers and a downpipe but the o2 sensor is on the downpipe, and I have to extend the o2 wire. I don't kno how to do that and even if i did, I know the CEL light will be triggered. Is there a way to make it so that the CEL light doesn't come on even with aftermarket headers?
