New to the evo scene

Hello I’m nick I have just purchased a evo 9 mr with 59000 miles on it. I traded in my 13 genesis coupe for it . It was a 2.0t also tuned and what not. Nothing like the evo. I have always wanted a evo and finally had a chance to purchase one. The evo had one owner and he was a older guy. I’m assuming it sat in the garage most of its life because it’s really clean for being a Wisconsin car. So here is my questions, might be dumb I’m not sure. so I have always heard of crank walk for the 4g63s. And I was wondering if that includes evo 9s or just all 7 bolt engines. I started looking things up because the car wants to drop to like 400 rpms when I push in the clutch in to come to a stop. I read something that says that could be crank walk and that got me worried. I’m not really sure what is done to the car I knows it’s straight piped and the delarship said there was something done to the turbo. It boost right around 26psi. It seems faster then my buddy stock evo 9. So like I said I’m new to the Evo thing so if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hey Nick alright @Telchilad

Great to hear youre an owner. Many of our new posters are just looking for an EvO but chances are will never get one

Congrats

Regarding crank walk. Im not the resident expert but it was certainly more prevalent w/the older DSM 4G63's than ours. But crank walk, from what ive read, can still occur. If the crank walks enough, it will damage the crank angle sensor & that for sure would throw a code

Heres a thread w/some of our experienced members discussing the topic here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-safe-say.html

Post up some pics of your EvO (ive got a 9 as well)

Joe

Yea i came to the conclusion after reading all that it’s less likely. But now I have to figure out why it wants to drop to low rpms when it’s going to idle. Thanks for the response!

Hey, im a bike fan but dont ride off road anymore (im injury prone. too much throttle LOL)

The 600 looks nice! Do you have a pipe on it? Im a fan of MotoGP & AMA SX/MX for sure!!

Engine bay looks OK. I see the Injen upper pipe & the open intake. I do see a yellowish wire on the pulley side of the engine. Not sure what thats for (gauge wire?). Slight corrosion on the right upper shock tower?

It does not have a pipe on it . The person who I got it from dropped it on that side and cut the exhaust with a ssawzall from what it looks like everything is fine with the bike except that and god damn is it loud lol. And yea I have these gauges and a turbo timer and a boost controller.
