New Evo owner intro

Hello everyone. I just recently purchased an 2003 Mitsubishi Evo last Wednesday. I came across this car one morning after looking at some property nearby my house before going into work. It was on a seasonal/dirt road and as I cruised by I was like s*** is that an Evo lol. I had to get to work so I thought I'd check it out after. I stopped by after work and there were a few vehicles in the drive way. I went and knocked a few times and rang the door bell. Guy answered and I asked if the car was for sale. He said yes and I asked if I could check it out. It was in fact an Evo. After looking it over it was for the most part it was pretty clean. The clear coat was peeling and the undercarriage was clean besides some surface rust. Went back to the door again and spoke with the owner. I asked him some questions and he said it had been sitting for around 3 years. It will start with a jump and the alternator and battery will need to be replaced. No other problems. Heres the crazy part that comes next. I asked how much and he told me $2000 which he said is reasonable. I told him I'd be back with a trailer if the title was clean with no liens. Which it did check out. Got my trailer, money and jump pack and drove back over. Popped the hood and hooked up jump pack. Car fired up like it instantly with no hesitation. Drove it up the trailer and took it home. Currently I have filled the car with new fuel and I am getting some necessary maintenance parts. I already have read some of the forum newbie/dummy guides. I currently do have another boosted car currently it's a 08 350z with a supercharger setup making between 5xx-6xx hp depending on where I have the boost set to. Any recommendations you folks have to offer would be great!

Wow Brother, well done @Zvick91 . $2K was a true give-a-way price. Congrats & welcome to the group

Do us a favor & start a thread in the project car forum & detail the resurrection process

How many miles? Certainly time to clean this up & check the health of the motor & get it tuned ASAP

The car has 105xxx miles on it. Yes it was two thousand dollars ($2000) No Jokes. When he told me that price I was thinking f**** I guess I have new car lol! I definitely will start a build thread the next couple of days. I am slowly collecting some parts for repairs. The only thing left is to find the time to get to working on it.

Seller clearly doesn't care about a thing called money, should have gave it away instead of letting it rot for years. At least its out of his abusive hands and in yours now!

I'll be posting slowly in the build thread. Hopefully this winter I can get a good amount of work done.

how does the undercarriage look? I gota say from the engine bay it looks pretty rotten haha..not like it matters from a financial standpoint but from a rebuild perspective is it even a candidate for a build?

The undercarriage is actually pretty good. Rear wheel well are clean no rot. Strut towers are solid. Definitely a good candidate. I really would say for where it's been and sitting I would say it's a 7/10 for how clean it is. The brake lines/fuel lines still appear to be like new. I'll get some pictures tomorrow. I had pressure washed it after those pictures and it definitely looks better.
