Hello, long time lurker but I figured I would start posting so I can use the marketplace. I picked up an 05 8 RS in WW in 2020. Luckily got in right before the prices went nuts. I'm in southern WY close to the CO border
Hi Joe, RS' ftw! I do ride mountain bikes, current stable is a Giant Anthem for XC, Guerrilla Gravity Trail Pistol for all mountain, and a Turner DHR for DH.
Glad this place is active still tbh, forums are still the best format for finding information.
Here's some pics, yes I'm a masochist who road trips an RS
^Arches nat'l park overlooking the La Sals
^From the trip when I bought it. Bought it in SF, drove it all the way up the PCH to Seattle to visit some friends and then 410 over Mt Rainier and caught i84 to i80 back to WY
Yes, Well done Brother. Love the RS & the Giant & the other steeds. I ride a Giant as well. Im a bit older but have a Giant Trance E-Bike (full coil conversion & a few other tricks thrown at it). Yes, traveling in an RS is hard core for sure LOL
Use to run those Z1's on my GT back in the 90's. They were one of the better forks back then & probably still work well for XC
Back in the early 2000's the free riding thing was kicking off and doing drops was cool. I think the Z1s were one of the first 5 inch travel fork made for doing big hits. Some shop had fitted them to a kona hard tail that I had bought back then but when the Santa Cruz Blur became 2003 bike of the year in the States, I had to have one so I imported the frame and fitted the forks to it. It's been hanging in my garage for 5 years now due to a leg injury. I had it out in the rain last night, it's such a fast tail bike through rock gardens and in and out of canyons.
