Evo shuddering getting off the line

Hi all,

My 03 evo 8 is giving me some trouble getting off the line from a stop. The car is getting harder to keep from stalling at the clutch bite point and the car also shudders a bit (and is more noticeable on turns). Was possibly thinking the rear diff was going out? A while back I changed the rear diff fluid and the old fluid was a murky black on exit (the Diaqueen is supposed to be green). Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue before possibly taking off the wrong parts.

Thanks for the read!

Someone smarter might chime in but stalling is probably more of an air/fuel/spark related kinda thing...I think.

Sorry, I should probably specify the issue a little more. The shuddering feels like it is coming from the rear suspension area of the car, and I am pretty sure it is unrelated to engine's power output. I think it is getting harder to keep from stalling because the shudders have gotten worse as time has passed, thus taking longer to get off bitepoint, thus harder to get the car off the line when trying to get off faster. It's not at a point where its causing me to stall the car, it's just noticeably more annoying to get the car moving.

I think you should just go ahead and inspect the driveshaft, axles, bearings and the diff. or share a video.

I had this even when I was just trying to get smoothly started out around town. It went on for years. As you say the judder shook the car and felt like it came from the rear end.

I finally changed the clutch to Exedy Stage I.

When I inspected the old clutch disk (OEM) 83K miles . It was worn with in .4mm of the min thickness and two of the sprung center springs were loose in their pockets.

I think the loose springs were causing the Judder when starting out. With a new clutch the problems went away.

My guess is that you need a new clutch.
