Introduction!
Hey everyone!
After many years of wanting an Evo, I finally grabbed one. The problem is, I have some questions that I could really use some answers to. I'm not a gear head, but I am learning more and more each day from these forums!
So I bought recently bought a 2015 EvoX Final Edition. Pretty stoked I found it with 31k miles on it. This is pretty much a project car that I don't drive every day. I have a truck I drive to and from work.
I have noticed some mods were done to it. It has a K&N Typhoon intake kit, a Cobb boost control, and a Magnaflow exhaust that I was able to identify. I am guessing the car had been sitting for a bit, because the battery died fairly quickly after a few days of sitting. After about 100 miles of driving it, the check engine light came on, and the code indicated the downstream o2 sensor needed replaced. I replaced that, but after driving it more frequently, the light came back. Seems the car is running lean. I picked up a Cobb AP, and reset the tune to a map0, and so far, I haven't had any issues with the ECU indicating a lean AFR. The RPMs are spiking on 3-4 gear, which from reading some posts, indicates I need to replace my clutch. That's next on the agenda. I think I'm just going to go with a standard Exedy OEM clutch kit replacement.
So here are my questions:
- What brand of chemicals do you use to clean your evo?
- I'm hearing what I believe to be squeaky shocks. Any advice on some? I'm trying to stay somewhat stock until I have a good feel for this car. Feel free to post a link to another forum post. Sorry if this has been discussed a lot.
- Do you have any recommendations on other things I should be looking at if the car had been sitting for a while? Should I do a full flush of fluids?
- What Cobb AP gauges should I monitor?
I'll probably have a lot of other questions, and I will definitely be keeping close tabs on the forums to answer my questions. Thanks in advance, guys and gals!
