is the trunk lid the same on the RA as the evo8?

if they ever make a CF trunk, can we use it?

nope...take a look at the rear of both. The trunk is differnt because the rear taillight assembly is different.

 

hmm.. but they can change the fender and the light for the flares and leave the trunk the same size?

the reason I asked is that the spoiler fits.. so I thought it might be the same

Nah....probably not....the spoiler is just a drilled bolt pattern on the lid itself...has nothing to do w/ actual fitment.

You'd be surprised at how many they DON'T. Do you know what parts are the same between the two? The rear doors.

Yep, that's it folks. Everything else may seem similar, but every single other peice of sheet metal has been pushed out, bulged out, trimmed down, re-shaped, or otherwise mangled from it's original use to make room for the rear diff, those extra-wide tyres, the re-tuned suspension, the different front and rear fascies...well, you get the idea.

I had the thought, once, of putting together an OE "EVO Retrofit" kit for my local lancer guys, but there's so damned many peices it's impractical. I mean, who wants to buy a whole car less the rear doors?

 

Wow, they both look so much similar, I would never have guessed that the only similarity was the rear doors.

 

At least on 02-03 Lancers, the trunk matches up. Granted, the color of the paint is generally slightly different shades, but there's that.
