Question Cruise Control

Hello all!

Well, I finally got my Husker Red Evo! After driving it around on my daily extended cruise home I noticed THERE IS NO CRUISE CONTROL!!!!

Oh boy.... I am really going to miss it. Have any of you installed cruise control? What are my options here? Yeah, I know all about the fun of driving it unassisted blah, blah, blah... but when you take long commuter trips every day it gets old real fast.

I'd love to hear what others have done.

Thanks!

In spec'ing out a 2004, it was not listed as an option there either. The dealer advised it was part of the "philosophy" of the car in staying true to its purpose.

I had cruise control installed the day after I got it, there are a few others on evom that have had it installed on theirs too.

This post will give you pictures and prices, if you read through it all:

Wow! Thanks, Emulous! I did a search and couldn't find anything. I wonder why it didn't show up?

That is great information. I'm going to investigate replicating your setup.

Search engine isn't functioning properly right now, I can add that to the thread.

Also the vehicle registry... meh.

cruise control should be standard on ANY car. I'm sure it's not gonna weigh that much, and how much could it possibly cost to add that option? or at least have it as an available option? It's not like these cars can't handle long road trips.. or can they..

The reason there is no cruise on our cars is obvious if you look at it. The (Momo)steering wheel is different from the base Lancer, meaning they would have to develop a cruise system specifically for the Evo, which aint gonna happen.

If I was concerned about weight, I would get the RS. I never thought of cruise control as a luxury, but more of just common sense. Hyundais and Hondas have them and they are hardly luxurious. How much could the system possible weigh? Add the system and lose the love handles and we're back to square one. haha. Also, this is not a race car, technically it's a sport compact car.
